A Mother’s Love
Moms across this nation are faced with a family in crisis – mainly their teen or young adult. That crisis comes in the form of addiction, mental illness, suicidal tendencies, eating disorders, and many more problematic issues.
Along with those crises, are tsunami size emotions. Moms are especially hit hard with these emotions because it is part of a mother’s make-up of who we are as a woman. God specifically made us that way so that we could connect more intimately with those around us, such as our children.
When we think of “mother” we think of words such as – compassionate, loving, forgiving, kind, and selfless. However, when a mother is confronted with a child in crisis, those descriptions change to a mother who is sad, angry, hurt, worried, and stressed. Combine all of those descriptions and emotions and you have a mother whose is fighting a major battle for her child’s life.
That battle for that mother uses special tools – Counseling, therapy, reading of His Word and PRAYER! It is hard, and tough with a lot of sweat and tears and also some insanity.
BUT….we serve a living, powerful God. A God who does NOT give up on our child or us. When we submit our teen and young adult to Him, He will make a way. He will direct your paths. He will give wisdom and discernment. He will deliver and heal.
Today, I sit here and listen to nine young women who are sharing their stories of alcoholism, drug addiction, suicidal thoughts and jail. Although those stories are sad, there is great happiness in them too, because they have a great ending to their story – God has delivered them! God’s love for them has pursued them, rescued them, and continues to heal them.
Some of them also had praying moms. Moms who didn’t give up when the battle was I’m sure at times, overwhelming.
God’s love for your child is unwavering and never-ending. He will continue to chase after your teen/young adult because of the love He has for them. He will move mightily according to His plan. All we need to do is pray for His will to be done in our child’s life. Yes, He will renew our hope and faith for our child when we keep our focus on Him.
In the meantime, be the great mom that you are – a fighter, a lover, and daughter of the King who so lovingly loves His children, your children. God bless you on this Mother’s Day! Take joy and give thanks for He is good, even in the midst of your chaos. He loves you!!
