Seasons of Change

Seasons of Change - Anchor Of Promise

We have said goodbye to winter and hello to spring.  With that, it has also brought seasons of change in my personal life as well.

During one of those seasons, I broke my toe, hurt a rib, and was congratulated for getting the flu.  All at the same time! No fun.

If that weren’t enough, our house went up for sale.  Can you imagine a hobbling sick woman trying to clean her house for visitors, coughing with an “ouch” at the end of each move?

That is how it is at times when you have a teen in crisis.  Problems and distractions always arise, there are endless surprises that need to be dealt with, and you feel too terrible to do anything.

Fortunately, the seasons of struggle don’t last forever. Yes, you can actually breathe a sigh of relief and even find joy and laughter again.

In the last nine months, several monumental events have developed.  There comes a point in which a teen in crisis finally starts to graduate into adulthood.  With that, they either learn to conquer and have victory over some of those old difficulties or struggle with new problems.  In our case, it has been many victories after ten years of crises.

As you probably have noticed, I put my blog on the back burner for a little bit so that we could enjoy these celebrations such as a marriage and most recently an addition to our family, a beautiful precious granddaughter.

Even as I sit here with my granddaughter napping by my side (Grandma MiMi babysitting),  I am reminded of the many other parents out there. They are still struggling, hurting, and pained by their children’s life choices and wonder when it will end.

This brings me to the scripture of Isaiah 43:19 NIV.

See, I am doing a new thing! Now it springs up; do you not perceive it? I am making a way in the wilderness and streams in the wasteland.

I have been through the roads of wilderness and wastelands.  I questioned God many times as to why I had to go through all of those trials and would there be any resolve during that season.  God’s answers were never late or out of season. They also produced lessons with great spiritual growth.

So if you are traveling through a painful season right now, remember that He is faithful and His promises are true. He will deliver you and your family and bring about healing and something new.  Remember, it is just a season.
